What will your kids learn?

How to participate?

  • Develop a Game using Scratch

    •  Participants are encouraged to craft a Scratch project focusing on game development

    • Some possible projects can be

      • An adventure game with various levels and challenges.

      • A quiz game that tests players' knowledge on different subjects.

      • A simulation game that models real-life scenarios.

      • A puzzle game that requires strategic thinking and problem-solving.

  • Submit your project along with a  five minutes Video explaining how your project works and walk thorugh your coding

  • Participants are requerted to complete instructions, notes, and credit provided within the project. Below is the example:

Scratch Competition Explaination

Who can participate?

  • Any students from age 7 to 9

  • We welcome participants from around the world!

  • Basic Block-based Coding Knowledge (Don't worry if you have no coding experience. You can join our signature Scratch Course click here for more detail)

Submission

To submit the project, use the Share Scratch button to create a project link, Then, record a video clip of no more than three minutes, introducing yourself, explaining the concept of the project, its usefulness, which group of users it is suitable for, and how to use it. You must include the title page  in the begining of the Scratch project. Upload the video clip(.MP4) and fill in the form, ensuring that all links are publicly available. Participants' videos must be in the official language of Thai or English.

  • 6 September 2024 9:00 AM GMT+7 Announcement for finalists

  • 15 September 2024 1:00 PM GMT+7 Demo Day @ Beyond Code Academy | Thonglor (This will be hybrid event (online and in-person) Although we would love to see all finalists in-person, you can also participate online)

Registration Fee:

500 THB for Beyond Code Academy Students

750 THB for Non-Beyond Code Academy Students

Judging Criteria :

The judging criteria for the Beyond Scratch Competition will assess the participating students based on the following aspects:

Creativity (25%)

Does the project exhibit originality and demonstrate unique and creative ideas? Were the sprites and background design original, or were they downloaded from a website?

Coding and Technical Skill  (25%)

How proficiently does the student use Scratch? Were the programming concepts used appropriately? Is the code clean and organized?

Usability (20%)

Is the project user-friendly and easy to navigate? Is it clear how to interact with the project and achieve its goals? 

Impact and Fun (20%):

This criterion evaluates the potential impact and enjoyment of the project about the theme of game development. Judges will assess how well the project embodies the theme's significance and how effectively it fosters a sense of fun in the project.

Presentation (10%)

 How effective is the video presentation of the project? Does the student clearly and effectively explain the concept of the project and its usefulness?
